Scald the Milk:
Heat milk until steaming (not boiling). Remove from heat and let it cool until warm but not hot.
Activate the Yeast:
In a bowl, combine warm milk, honey, and yeast. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until foamy.
Mix the Dough:
Add melted butter, egg, salt, and flour to the yeast mixture. Stir until combined.
Knead the Dough:
Knead for 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic. If using a bread machine, use the dough setting.
First Rise:
Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise for 1 hour or until doubled.
Shape the Rolls:
Roll out dough to ½ inch thick, fold it over, and cut into 2-inch squares.
Second Rise:
Place rolls on a greased baking sheet, cover, and let them rise for 30-45 minutes.
Bake:
Preheat oven to 350°F. Bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.
Brush with Butter:
Immediately brush warm rolls with melted butter. Serve warm with honey butter.
